OPzV stands for "Ortsfest" (stationary), "PanZerplatte" (tubular plate), "Zyklenbetrieb" (cyclic operation) and "Verschlossen" (sealed). They are sealed batteries with immobilised electrolyte. Due to their sealed design, OPzV batteries are maintenance free in terms of water refill.
