Tech tip

Ensure you use the specified sheet thickness – steel sheet 0.40–2.00 mm, aluminium 0.50–2.00 mm. Thinner sheets do not provide sufficient support for the self-tapping thread. Tighten the screw only until the sealing washer is in even contact and is lightly compressed: if you overtighten it, the washer will be damaged and the seal will fail. Insert the screw as perpendicular as possible to the surface of the sheet so that the sealing washer bears the load all round.
