Tech tip

Ensure you use the specified sheet thickness – from 0.4 mm (steel and aluminium). Thinner sheets do not provide sufficient support for the self-tapping thread. Tighten the screw only until the sealing washer lies flat and is lightly compressed: if you overtighten it, the washer will be damaged and the seal will fail. Insert the screw as close to perpendicular to the surface of the sheet metal as possible, so that the sealing washer bears the load all round.
