Today, high-speed networks are the lifelines of almost every company and electronic system. Overvoltages caused by galvanic, capacitive or inductive couplings in data lines may destroy information technology equipment within a network in the worst case. Therefore, these networks require special protection.

The Net Defender from OBO Bettermann is a future-proof surge protection device optimised for high-speed networks: Network data speeds up to 10 Gbps are no problem for the Net Defender. It can protect the entire network as well as individual terminal devices.

Terminal devices can be supplied with power directly in the network using "Power over Ethernet" (PoE) without additional lines. The Net Defender allows the use of PoE with rated currents up to 1 A. In addition, it offers optimised surge protection in the channel up to 10 Gbps. This corresponds to ISO/IEC 11801 Amd. 1 of a channel performance of class EA (or CAT 6A according to TIA/ANSI). Of course, backward compatibility is also guaranteed.

Another advantage of the Net Defender is the easy installation: It can be snapped directly onto a top-hat rail and automatically establishes the necessary equipotential bonding. Alternatively, it can be specifically protected by directly connecting it to a terminal device with a separately pluggable earthing cable.

The Net Defender at a glance:

  • pluggable system for quality cabling
  • Powerful surge protection
  • Applicable in "Channel Link" up to 1 Gbps
  • Power over Ethernet-enabled
  • Installation on top-hat rail or directly on the terminal device
  • Test protocol present
