The number required depends on the weight of the ballast, not on the size of the tray: for up to 8 ballast blocks or less than 64 kg, one support plate per tray is sufficient; for more than that, two are required. This is a manufacturer’s specification, not a recommendation – if there are too few plates, the ballast will exert pressure on the roofing membrane in specific areas. Take the ballast quantities from the Solar.Pro.Tool project report and work out the number of plates required before you place your order; otherwise, they’ll be missing on site precisely where the heaviest ballast is required.

Alumero easySPEED Spacer Plate 140x220

The 140 x 220 mm underlay plate is fitted beneath the ballast tray in the Alumero easySPEED 2 system. It distributes the weight of the ballast over a larger area, ensuring that the load does not exert pressure on the roofing membrane at any single point. Alumero stipulates that it must be used when ballast trays are fitted – it is therefore not an optional accessory, but an integral part of the installation.
