BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM 11.0 high-voltage battery with BCU 2.0

The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM is the more powerful high-voltage variant for larger PV systems. An HVM tower consists of 3 to 8 modules connected in series (8.3 to 22.1 kWh) and can be expanded to a maximum of 66.2 kWh by connecting three identical systems in parallel. The modular, cobalt-free LFP batteries offer a long service life, maximum safety and can be easily expanded at any time. The system is suitable for residential, commercial and industrial applications, supports emergency power/off-grid functionality and is compatible with standard Inverters. When it comes to charge and discharge power, however, BYD remains true to form. Each battery can also deliver its rated capacity as power – i.e. 1C. This makes the new series ideally suited for on-grid, on-grid plus backup and off-grid systems. As the software in the new models remains the same, the Premium HVM series continues to be fully compatible with Kostal, SMA, Fronius and GoodWe.

Complications may arise when connecting BCU 1.0 and BCU 2.0 in parallel. For the installation of the MC4 connectors, the use of hydraulic crimping pliers with a crimping head is recommended. Furthermore, for correct commissioning, it is essential to install the supplied terminating resistor (in the COM-IN for single operation), as otherwise communication errors will occur and the BCU will not recognise the modules.
