Description
SMA Power Limiter
On 14 January 2020, the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) ruled on the requirement for remote control of PV systems. According to this ruling, systems must, in accordance with Section 6 of the EEG 2012 (now Section 9 of the EEG 2017), be equipped with a technical device that enables the feed-in from the PV system into the electricity grid to be reduced. In this context, the BGH has unambiguously interpreted ‘reduce’ to mean that simply switching the PV system on and off does not satisfy the requirements of the law.
The SMA Power Limiter is SMA’s solution for complying with the prescribed step-by-step reduction of feed-in power under Section 6 EEG 2012 and Section 9 EEG 2017, as well as for rapid disconnection in accordance with EN 50549-1.
