Tech tip

The crucial factor in a ballasted system is the coefficient of friction between the building protection membrane and the roof structure – this is directly factored into the dead load calculation. Determine this on site in both wet and dry conditions and enter the actual value into the design; if it is lower than assumed, the required ballast increases. The ballast quantity itself is calculated on a project-by-project basis using the Solar.Pro.Tool, not based on empirical values. Two things that are often overlooked on site: ballast trays, which will later be positioned beneath the modules, must be filled before the modules are installed – you won’t be able to access them afterwards. And the aluminium structure must only come into contact with materials whose pH value lies between 4.5 and 8.5; this must be checked in the case of fresh bituminous membranes and coatings.

Alumero easyGREEN base plate 140 x 725

The 140 x 725 mm base plate is the narrow, long base element of the Alumero easySPEED 2 platform. It is also used in the easyGREEN system for green roofs – where it is combined with the taller easyGREEN supports, which leave around 300 mm of clearance for the roof vegetation. It rests on the roof membrane, accommodates supports and profiles, and distributes the load across the entire surface rather than at specific points – meaning you do not need to penetrate the roof. On the underside is a building protection fleece made of polyester needle felt, which protects the roof membrane.
